How often does Neptune go retrograde?

Neptune turns retrograde once a year, for about five months.

Is a retrograde real?

The backward motion is an optical effect: as Earth and another planet move on their orbits, the planet appears to drift backwards against the stars for a while. The astrological meanings are traditional beliefs for reflection and entertainment, not science.
